Crossroads offers free essential respite care for unpaid carers, providing them with a regular weekly break of up to 3 hours for a 6 months period with trained support workers.

SHORT RESPITE BREAKS

This is a free service which is available to unpaid carers. This service offers a regular reliable weekly break- giving you up to 3 hours away from your caring responsibilities, and providing a trained support worker to care for your loved one just like you do.

CONSISTENT SUPPORT

Enjoy a regular, reliable break with the same support worker. Our trained support workers can perform tasks that carers typically handle, including personal care and one-on-one interaction. This free service is available for up to six months and is regularly reviewed by our care managers.

PALLIATIVE & END OF LIFE CARE

Providing families with practical and emotional support when caring for a loved one at the end stages of life.

PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT WORKERS

Our dedicated carer support workers are extensively trained to deliver compassionate, tailored assistance. They ensure that both carers and their loved ones feel supported and secure by addressing essential needs, including medication, nutrition, hydration, and daily living support to keep individuals safe.

ACCESSIBLE

Available to unpaid carers and their dependents aged 18 and above, referrals can be made by the family, friends, GP, or any other health or social care professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We do not currently means test any of our families, so the service is available to all unpaid carers.

Yes. All of our staff are paid and trained carers.

This may be something that could be offered for a special occasion, however we do not currently offer an additional paid service ( due to our current contract requirements with KCC).

Yes. All staff are subject to an annual enhanced check.

Yes. They can support with light domestic duties around the home, pending an assessment.

Yes. All staff are trained and have the relevant PPE to be able to assist an individual with their personal care needs.
