Our service covers the entire Kent and Medway

Macmillan Volunteer service is mostly free except our volunteer transportation service

It's 75p per mile that covers volunteer's mileage, parking and admin expenses

Please remember this is a volunteer service and we do not provide any cleaning or similar professional services. However, depending on the acceptance and ability of our volunteers, some light housework or similar practical support may be provided.

Many volunteers often choose to give between 1- 3 hours once a week, based on their lifestyle, home location and personal wishes. They may visit on the same day and time each week, or may look to fit their visit around you, subject to your wishes.

Our volunteers are provided with full training prior to supporting any clients and are required to complete a criminal background check and provide two successful references before joining us as an active volunteer.

Yes! We would complete a Holistic Needs Assessment with you which would identify if there was any other support needs that you have. We work with organisations where we can refer for benefit and grants, holistic therapy and home safety inspection.

Our fantastic team can help you apply for grants; including those provided by Macmillan as well as other beneficiaries.

Our Impact

Sam was fantastic, a superstar. She is kind, caring, helpful, efficient and genuine. Without her help I would still be sleeping on a cold, easy to deflate airbed, in a draught.

I find it hard to talk about my cancer with my friends, and I don’t have any family nearby. To be able to talk openly and honestly with my volunteer, and be supported with tasks that feel too much – it’s been wonderful

Thanks to the support I received with small household tasks that now feel like big ones, I had the energy to enjoy a trip to London and build some great memories. I’m so grateful

I’ve always shied away from people who are dealing with difficult situations - I find it tough to know how to react. Volunteering has helped change that; I’ve learned a lot

I feel so valued by my client. Knowing our small chats really make a difference to her gives me a huge sense of enjoyment

I have just completed my series of radiotherapy treatments and want to express heartfelt thanks to the Macmillan Crossroads for arranging the services of a volunteer to drive my wife and me between our home and the hospital.
