Between 2023 and 2024, our Counselling Service has experienced significant growth. Thanks to generous funding from the Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance, who supported us for 18 months, we have been able to help 52 trainee counsellors complete their 100-hour placements. These placements are a crucial part of their Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, enabling them to become fully qualified counsellors.
To date (as of 31st January 2025), these trainees have provided an impressive 2,388 counselling sessions to 269 carers. This achievement reflects our commitment to supporting both aspiring counsellors and the carers who rely on their services.
In addition to the funding from the Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance, we have also received invaluable support from local venues. These kind partners have allowed us to use their facilities free of charge, making it possible to deliver counselling sessions across Kent.
Venues Supporting Our Service
The following locations have played a key role in helping us deliver these sessions:
Age UK Deal, 3 Park Street, Deal, CT14 6AG – 41 counselling sessions
The Bridge Care Home, Brunel Way, Dartford DA1 5FW – 40 sessions
Invicta Court Care Home, Gidd's Pond Way, Weavering, Maidstone, Kent ME14 5FY – 25 sessions
Chartwell House Care Home, 26 Draco Drive, Off Star Lane, Broadstairs, CT9 4FY – 71 sessions
Thanks to the generosity of these venues, we are able to support more carers across Kent in accessing our counselling services. By offering venues closer to where carers live, we reduce travel costs and the amount of time they need to spend away from their loved ones. We understand that caring for a loved one can have a significant financial and emotional impact, and we strive to make our services as accessible as possible.
In addition to the above locations, our counselling service is also available at our offices in Herne Bay and Wateringbury.
